Freedom Alert : LogicMark Wins Settlement

FAIRFAX STATION, Va. -- According to an SEC filing, LogicMark, LLC has accepted 9 million shares of common stock from Medical Alarm Concepts Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB:MDHI), as settlement for a patent infringement suit.
Fairfax Station, Va.-based LogicMark now holds 6.7 percent of Plymouth Meeting, Pa.-based Medical Alarm Concepts shares, worth $9,000 at Monday's closing price of 1 cent.
The two medical alarm device companies were on friendly terms until LogicMark sued Medical Alarm Concepts (owners of MediPendant) last March for patent infringement, unfair trade practices and Intentional Interference with Business or Contractual Relations, according to telecareaware.com.

Evidently Medical Alarm Concepts insisted on claiming to have the only product with two-way voice communications via the pendant. LogicMark, maker of the FreedomAlert pendant, begged to differ,

The companies announced on April 19 that they reached a settlement agreement in the Eastern District of Virginia in which all charges have been dismissed without acknowledgement of liability by either party, and the parties retain their rights in their respective intellectual property.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, until the current filing.

Founded in 2008, Medical Alarm Concepts is a development stage company that provides personal response monitoring services and related products to subscribers with medical or age-related conditions.

LogicMark's FreedomAlert pendant functions like a monitored personal emergency response system, except the owner doesn't have to pay monthly monitoring fees. via CityBizList

Personal Emergency Response System : Keepin Seniors Safe At Home

Keeping Seniors Safe at Home Using Technology and Private In-Home Care – Affordable Options in Sarasota, Venice, and Bradenton Florida
By Mike Jones, Owner, Comfort Keepers, Sarasota, Venice, and Bradenton Florida
Freedom Alert Personal 911 Emergency Response SystemQuestion:  I am always concerned about my dad’s safety, but can’t afford to have a caregiver with him all the time. Any suggestions?      Beth  Venice, FL
Answer: New safety technology devices may be valid options for seniors and baby boomers, who have grown up and gone through adulthood with an evolving array of electronic devices and have developed a fairly high level of comfort with and respect for technology.
For example, at Comfort Keepers also offer a line of in-home care technology solutions that help seniors age safely and confidently at home. These technologies can be used on their own or as a supplement to care provided by family, or professional caregivers. These products are monitored around the clock by professionals at a central monitoring station and are designed to help seniors maintain independence, prevent unnecessary hospitalizations and improve quality of life.
In the event of a fall, illness or other emergency at home, the Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) enables seniors to summon help quickly. A push of a waterproof button on a wrist band or pendant sends out an immediate call to the central monitoring station, enabling them to get help when time is of the essence.
For added safety and security, the PERS system can monitor additional safety devices. These include motion detectors, pressure-sensitive floor mats, and door and window contacts that can provide home security or monitor people who wander, such as those with Alzheimer’s or other dementia-related conditions. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors also can be added to the system.
Our systems offer medication reminders, but in many situations you want the medications locked away so they can’t be gotten into or so the client can’t confuse which meds to take. We have a number of different types of medication dispensers depending on the needs of the client. Have a consultant help review and design a medication management plan.  This should help seniors and their caregivers simplify the sometimes complicated process of organizing and dispensing prescriptions and over the counter medications—and can help reduce the risk of hospital and nursing home admissions that often result from improper use of medicine.
There are a number of different types of elderly medical alert device’s with GPS technology, which provides peace of mind that a person can be quickly located via state-of-the-art global tracking technology. When a senior becomes lost, he pushes a button on the device, sending out a signal that indicates his location to the Comfort Keepers monitoring station. In addition, family members or friends can pinpoint their loved one’s location in real time over the Internet or by calling the monitoring station.
Another system through the Alzheimer’s Association in conjunction with the police department has your loved one can wearing a watch like GPS device, which will enable the police to locate them quickly if they wander.
Quietcare has a wireless monitoring system that learns a client’s patterns and reports anything out of the ordinary.  Tele-health is currently available to send weight, blood pressure, pulse, oxygen and blood glucose results by wire to your home care agency or MD.
Companies like Intel along with major universities are also looking for opportunities to develop technology that better serves older adults while reducing health care costs. Intel hopes to accomplish this goal by emphasizing prevention over treatment, shifting focus from expensive clinical settings to the home and transferring some responsibility for care from formal providers to individuals and their families and friends.
These efforts affirm seniors’ desire to age in place and maintain greater independence, as well as the proven benefits of current technologies that complement in-home caregiving.

Freedom Alert : Security On Call

FREEDOM ALERT 911--911 On Call
Parental Safety
I'm getting to the age where I'm starting to worry about my parents safety, not only from a health standpoint, but for their physical well-being as well.  They are getting to be the age where falling poses a real threat to their lives.  Many of the elderly that fall get pneumonia related illnesses during their recovery period from which they don't recover. Thirty per cent of the people over 65 fall every year, and 28% of those who don't receive timely help will die as a direct result of that fall.  Scary!!  So when the Freedom Alert 911 commercial came on an As Seen on TV spot, I immediately thought of my parents.
The Freedom Alert 911 Unit
The Freedom Alert 911 personal emergency response system is really just a small speakerphone and a base station that plugs into a phone line.  The speakerphone is usually worn as a pendant on a neck chain, or it may be worn on a wristband or on a belt clip…all of which come with the system.  We can choose up to three numbers to program into the speakerphone that will dial at the touch of the appropriate button.   The system can also be programmed so that the speakerphone will dial one of four phone number choices we selected ending with the 911 number if none of the previous numbers answer.  Freedom Alert 911 keeps dialing until someone answers.   As my parents are still active, we ordered two so each one could wear one.
Operation and Range
The speakerphone's AAA battery will need need changing every few months.  The battery test button feature is great to make sure it's fully charged and ready to communicate with the base.  Speaking of batteries, the base station has a battery back-up so that it's always operable, even in the event of a power outage.  Mom and Dad really like the fact that if they are within 600 feet of the base station, the speakerphone will communicate with it and they have emergency assistance available.  The 600 foot coverage means they can go outside, putter in the yard, and still have the security of the Freedom Alert 911 coverage.
Forming the Freedom Alert 911 Habit
At first it was hard to get them in the habit of putting the pendants on when they returned home and walked in from the garage.  It took just a few times of me phoning with a reminder (nagging) to take The Freedom Alerts off the hook by door and slip them on.  As it's splash resistant, they've even got into the habit of wearing them in the shower...a very smart move!
Mom & Dad have the security of Freedom Alert 911 for a one time purchase of about $360 with no service contracts or monthly fees to keep up with.  Not only does it provide them with the ability to reach someone quickly in case of an emergency, but it really gives me some peace of mind as well...and you can't put a dollar amount on that!

Personal Emergency Response System - PERS

Freedom Alert Personal 911 Emergency Response System There is a new revolutionary personal emergency response system that has a wide array of significant safety applications. The freedom Alert offers functionality not available with other elderly medical alert systems, such as the ability for two-way conversation on the pendant itself and communication in a 600+ range from the base unit.
This new PERS (personal emergency response system), is now available for those requiring assistance in emergency situations. LogicMark is now distributing the freedom alert nationally. Due to this new state of the art technology, this personal emergency response system goes far beyond being a medical alert. It can also be used as a personal alarm to provide much needed safety in centers for the disabled as well as in schools and daycare centers.

Freedom Alert gives users access to help 24 hours a day and 365 days of the year. While other personal emergency response systems offer equipment with panic buttons, Freedom Alert is one of  the only system that provides this unique ability to speak through the pendant itself as well as two-way voice speakerphone technology. This new elderly medical alert also offers over 600 feet of communication range and out of range notifications.

Personal Emergency Response Systems

It may not seem like such a big deal to you to get a personal emergency response system (PERS) but to those who love you it can be a huge burden lifted off their shoulders. You are important to your family. They want the best for you. While they want you to be able to maintain your independence, they also want to feel that you are safe while doing so. Doing something as simple as getting a monitored personal emergency response system can give them the peace of mind they want.
Because your family loves you, they want to keep you around for as long as possible. They also want you to remain your active vibrant self. This means they want to make sure that you have every opportunity to live the long and full life you've all dreamed of. A PERS will give them peace of mind because they know you will have another layer of protection when they can't be there for you.
You don't have to be a complete and total "home body" to benefit from the medical alert system. In fact, active people can slip, trip, or fall just as easily as those who stay close to home and hearth for the greater amount of time. The thing to remember is that anytime you are home alone you are at risk. Your family knows this. The personal emergency response system is convenient to keep on you at all times so that wherever you are in the home, you have instant and immediate access to emergency care.
Your family will find it much easier to let you enjoy your independence without constantly pressuring you to move in with one of them or into a managed care facility of some sort because they know that the push of one button is all that remains between you and getting the help you need if you fall at home.
You do not want to be a burden to your children. Most parents find that to be their biggest fear. Worry can be a burden. Remove that burden with a very small investment in a monitored medical alert system. The smallest reward from this is peace of mind for your family. The best possible outcome is that you will have this insurance or backup plan for getting help if the time ever comes when you need it.
You cannot possibly plan for every possible contingency in life but a personal emergency response system gives you an added line of defense against one of the most problematic injuries that faces elderly adults. Getting immediate help after a fall can not only reduce the degree of the injury but can also greatly reduce the recovery period required after the incident. This will get you back on your feet and on your own much faster than if you were to wait several hours before getting much needed help. There is not a price that can be put on that kind of peace of mind for those who love you most. ( John Nunnally)

Elderly Medical Alert - Guardian Alert 911

Guardian Alert 911 Senior Medical Alert System

When I found the Guardian Alert elderly medical alert I learned something very important. There are two options when it comes to these devices regarding medical emergency responses. First, you can buy a senior medical alert system which is monitored and one that is not. Monitored simply means that the device is hooked up to a monitoring service where there all live operators to answer distress calls and act as a middleman to emergency services.
Guardian Alert 911 PhoneA non-monitored system like Guardian alert connects directly to a 911 dispatcher when the medical alert device is activated. The Guardian Alert system connects through your telephone land line. So in essence, you would be calling 911 from the pendant you where around your neck or on your wrist. The Guardian alert has a range of up to 600 feet. So the idea here is that you can call 911 without being next to your phone.
If someone slips on the patio, falls in the shower, or trips on a step they can press the button on the Guardian Alert and call for help. But, it is not a medical alert device you can use when out shopping or traveling. To the best of my knowledge, none of the home-based units can do this.
A monitored elderly medical alert device will have a monthly or yearly subscription fee to pay for the live monitoring. A device like the Guardian Alert does not. You only pay for the medical alert system itself and then there are no more fees. This is a good option when price is a consideration. I'm not sure there is any benefit to having a live monitoring system if you are within the home because once you press the button on your medical alert device will dial 911. If someone can point out the benefit of calling a middleman to call 911 for you, I'd like to hear about it in the comment section. I may be missing something very important.
