Personal Emergency Response Systems

It may not seem like such a big deal to you to get a personal emergency response system (PERS) but to those who love you it can be a huge burden lifted off their shoulders. You are important to your family. They want the best for you. While they want you to be able to maintain your independence, they also want to feel that you are safe while doing so. Doing something as simple as getting a monitored personal emergency response system can give them the peace of mind they want.
Because your family loves you, they want to keep you around for as long as possible. They also want you to remain your active vibrant self. This means they want to make sure that you have every opportunity to live the long and full life you've all dreamed of. A PERS will give them peace of mind because they know you will have another layer of protection when they can't be there for you.
You don't have to be a complete and total "home body" to benefit from the medical alert system. In fact, active people can slip, trip, or fall just as easily as those who stay close to home and hearth for the greater amount of time. The thing to remember is that anytime you are home alone you are at risk. Your family knows this. The personal emergency response system is convenient to keep on you at all times so that wherever you are in the home, you have instant and immediate access to emergency care.
Your family will find it much easier to let you enjoy your independence without constantly pressuring you to move in with one of them or into a managed care facility of some sort because they know that the push of one button is all that remains between you and getting the help you need if you fall at home.
You do not want to be a burden to your children. Most parents find that to be their biggest fear. Worry can be a burden. Remove that burden with a very small investment in a monitored medical alert system. The smallest reward from this is peace of mind for your family. The best possible outcome is that you will have this insurance or backup plan for getting help if the time ever comes when you need it.
You cannot possibly plan for every possible contingency in life but a personal emergency response system gives you an added line of defense against one of the most problematic injuries that faces elderly adults. Getting immediate help after a fall can not only reduce the degree of the injury but can also greatly reduce the recovery period required after the incident. This will get you back on your feet and on your own much faster than if you were to wait several hours before getting much needed help. There is not a price that can be put on that kind of peace of mind for those who love you most. ( John Nunnally)
